Thoughts

This was sent to me by Steve and Sue Thorne: I cannot believe that over 35 years have gone by since I first met Mike at my initial meeting of Hutton & Shenfield Round Table. His enthusiasm for all things Round Table was infectious and in his year as Chairman in 1998/1999 I was pleased to act as his Secretary. I recall meetings where the issue of re-siting or not, of the Electricity Meter at the Round Table bungalow in Holland-on-Sea would be discussed and argued about at length - a constant 'wind-up' particularly for some other members. At the bungalow working parties it was always Mike, as Chief Plumber, extolling the virtues of plastic piping over the merits of copper pipe....at this time quite a radical point of view! Following Mike & Karen's move to Cheltenham we remained good friends and were always made welcome on our albeit infrequent visits. Mike.....you have been taken far too soon and will be very much missed by your own and your Round Table/41 Club family!

We met Michael and Karen in Croatia on a walking tour of the Dalmatia Coast in 2016 and have become great friends travelling to each other’s home towns sharing many wonderful memories. Although our friendship has only been for 3 years it feels more like a lifetime friendship with longevity. Our memories of you Michael are your kindness, your ability to tell a tale or two with great detail and humour, your warmth and welcoming ways, you constantly made us laugh, and your love and devotion to Karen and your families. These Michael will live on forever, farewell our dear dear friend , much love Sharyn and Alan from NZ xxxx

Michael had such energy and enthusiasm, a positive person to be next to. He gave more to the world than he took from it.
